PineShot — Terms of Service
Effective date: April 9, 2026
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the PineShot desktop application (“the App”) provided by Autimo Systems Inc., operating as Pine IT (“we”, “us”, “our”). By installing or using PineShot, you agree to these Terms.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, or using PineShot, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
PineShot is a macOS menu bar screenshot utility. The App runs locally on your device and provides:
- Region, window, and full screen capture
- Cloud upload to user-configured storage (Amazon S3, Google Drive, OneDrive)
- Shareable link generation and clipboard integration
- Local capture history via SwiftData
- Annotation and markup tools
- Automatic updates via Sparkle
3. License
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use PineShot for personal or business purposes in accordance with these Terms.
You may not:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App
- Modify, adapt, or create derivative works based on the App
- Distribute, sublicense, lease, or lend the App to third parties
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose
- Remove or alter any proprietary notices or labels
4. Your Responsibilities
4.1 Data Management
Since all local data is stored on your device, you are responsible for:
- Backing up your capture history
- Securing access to your device
- Managing and deleting captures as appropriate
4.2 Cloud Storage
PineShot supports uploading captures to cloud storage you configure. You are solely responsible for:
- Configuring your own cloud storage credentials (Amazon S3, Google Drive, OneDrive)
- Any storage costs charged by your cloud provider
- All data uploaded to your cloud accounts
- Ensuring compliance with your organization’s data policies when uploading screenshots to cloud storage
PineShot stores cloud credentials locally on-device using macOS Keychain. We never have access to your credentials or uploaded files.
4.3 Third-Party Services
If you connect external cloud storage services, you are responsible for:
- Complying with those services’ terms of use
- Managing your API keys and credentials
- Understanding that data uploaded to cloud providers is subject to their terms
5. Screenshot Content
You are solely responsible for what you capture and share using PineShot. Do not use PineShot to capture or distribute content that:
- Violates any applicable law or regulation
- Infringes the intellectual property rights of others
- Contains personal information without appropriate consent
- Violates your organization’s information security policies
6. Intellectual Property
PineShot, including its code, design, and branding, is the intellectual property of Pine IT. These Terms do not transfer any intellectual property rights to you.
Content you capture using PineShot remains yours.
7. Auto-Updates
PineShot uses the Sparkle framework to deliver automatic updates. The App periodically checks pineit.ca for new versions. Updates:
- Are delivered securely and verified before installation
- May be required to address security vulnerabilities
- Do not transmit your data or captures to our servers
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that:
- The App will be uninterrupted or error-free
- Cloud uploads will succeed under all network conditions
- The App will be compatible with all systems or configurations
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, PINE IT SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE APP.
Our total liability for any claim arising from these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.
10. Updates and Changes
We may update the App and these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will indicate changes by updating the “Last Updated” date.
11. Termination
You may stop using PineShot at any time by uninstalling the App. We may terminate or suspend your license if you violate these Terms. Upon termination, your locally stored data remains on your device.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of British Columbia, Canada.
13. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
14. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Pine IT regarding PineShot.
